TV Tuesday: Let's Talk About Killing Eve
Ho boy readers,
This is a show about a security consultant (Sandra Oh who deserves the shit out of the Emmy she's nominated for) who is put on the trail of an assassin. The two soon develop a truly twisted relationship and that's really as much as I can tell you without getting too spoiler-y. The assassin is played by Jodie Comer who turns Villanelle into this very methodical but also completely insane contract killer with a fondness for luxury items. It's a mesmerizing performance that highlights the brilliance in Phoebe Waller-Bridge's world.
Let's talk about the show that has taken over our summer viewing. The show that introduced us to our new favorite TV psychopath. The show that deepened our love for Sandra Oh to unhealthy depths.
Let's talk Killing Eve.

I want to take a minute to praise the hell out of the writing for this show. Eve and Villanelle are two very different and very complex characters. The roles they occupy (detective and hired killer) are so often either written for men or written generically. To make both the hero and the villain of the show such real, flawed, fully realized women is so rare. Waller-Bridge created a thrilling a wonderfully paced eight episodes (she was the showrunner but she also wrote half of the first season). She has written for three other BBC shows so far, and I only hope she has a long career because selfishly I need a season of TV from her every year. Please and Thank You.

The show is currently available on the BBC America app. The episodes are available to purchase through Itunes and Amazon as well, and I'm hoping that as with most BBC shows it will show up on Amazon Prime soon.
Happy Watching,
Little C
