Weeeee're Baaaaack

Readers! Friends! Those two random folks from Russia that read every post!

In true 908 South fashion, we got insanely busy and stressed and travel-y this spring and abandoned the blog immediately. This is who we are. If you're still reading by now, you understand this and you love us anyway.

We're back now, from a few different travels and tackling a BUNCH of new projects. It's been an insanely productive spring for us, and while it sucks that that came at the expense of blogging on a regular basis we sure are happy to be back in actions and grateful for all the writing we've done this spring.

Here's a little sampler of what we've been up to/things we would have blogged about if we were any good at blogging. Basically the "need to know" of our lives in the last few months. We reserve the right to post full blogs about any and all of these topics.

 Portland!
We went on a weekend trip to Portland with a good friend and fell immediately in love with that gorgeous, strange city. Portland is weird, y'all. We toured the world's most amazing bookstore and bought way more books than we needed. We hiked up to a few different waterfalls and were blown away by the wild scenery of the Cascades. We took a brunch cruise with a guy dressed as Bigfoot, who was wearing bunny ears (it was Easter weekend). We are absolutely going back because Portland (like everything else we've seen of the Pacific Northwest) is rad and we love it.

AP Bio
Y'all. Y'ALL. We just found out that NBC cancelled AP Bio and we are devastated. We love that strange show. Glenn Howerton is a comedic genius and it has the best supporting cast of any show we've seen in a long time. We are basically begging a streaming service to save it because we love it big time. We've rewatched the two seasons over and over while we write this spring.

Fixer Upper
Speaking of watching things over and over, we discovered that Fixer Upper is the universe's perfect background entertainment while you power through a draft of a feature. We literally sat on our couch for 8 weeks while Chip and Joanna transform ugly little houses and pounded out a draft of a new project. Their creative energy gave us creative energy. We probably owe them a fruit basket or something at this point. Also, who knew Waco, TX was so cute??

Julien Baker/boygenius
Spotify recommended the boygenius EP to CT and boy oh boy has she not shut up about it. These ladies are wildly talented, brilliant songwriters. They're angry and sad and every moment of the EP drips with desperate feeling. That led to an ongoing obsession with the three members- Lucy Dacus, Julien Baker, and Phoebe Bridgers- that has fueled most of CT's long drives for the last few months. Currently working through all of Julien Baker's back catalogue, and the obsession grows every day.

Feeling Way Old
Our nephew graduated from college this spring and it was amazing and he is amazing but also WE ARE SO OLD NOW. How did this happen? Who can we call to fix it? Excuse us while we legitimately fear for our hips every time we go down a set of stairs.

All. The. Food.
This has two parts. The first is that right as we abandoned our entire lives to work on the new script, a Korean dumpling place opened in our neighborhood. It is so good, friends. We legitimately struggle not to eat there on a daily basis. Every time we drive past, it's like a game of "who's going to suggest that we stop to eat or do we have the self control to keep driving?"
The second part is that as part of a weekly movie night we do with friends, we've been working our way through the Sawtelle/Japantown neighborhood of LA. Listen, all I can say is that if you're ever in LA this is an absolute must-do. We've tried a dozen different restaurants at this point and every one of them is so tasty. So. Tasty.

The Witch Doesn't Burn In This One
One of Little C's Portland bookshop finds was a book of poetry by Amanda Lovelace. It's angry and powerful and it has several passages so striking that we've looked into what it would look like to get them tattooed on the inside of out eyelids (hint: shocking lack of people willing to entertain us on this). Expectations VS Reality and Words Like Daggers are the current favorites, but ask again in twenty minutes and that may have changed. A full blown obsession/search for everything Ms. Lovelace has done is not far off. Trust.

Many, Many Movies
We've seen so many movies this spring. Including, but not limited to: Glass, The Kid Who Would Be King, Happy Death Day 2 U, Greta, Captain Marvel, Us, Shazam!, Avengers: Endgame, Charlie Says, John Wick 3... I'm sure we'll talk all about these in the coming weeks. When we promise to be good bloggers again.

We're happy to be back, readers. We're excited to tell you more about these new projects when we can!

Now let's be honest with ourselves. We're ordering dumplings, putting on Fixer Upper, and jumping into yet other new script. We are who we are.
