CT: Nerdiness is Hereditary

Hello dear readers,

As Little C mentioned, I've been in Colorado and Wyoming visiting family for the better part of the last two weeks. I would say that 95% of me loves being home. It's hard for us to live so far from our family and so we really relish the time that we get to spend with them.

That said, I'm also learning that I really, really thrive when I have more of a routine for my life. It only takes a few days being home before I'm climbing the walls a little bit. There's just not enough structure to vacation, guys. (Yes, I know exactly how crazy that sounds, and I can hear Little C flipping out in protest all the way from California.)

So a few nights ago, my dad and I were up late watching TV, and he pulls up some DVR'd episodes of Nova. If you don't already know, Nova is a show on PBS that delves into a different topic from history in each episode. For instance, we watched one on Noah's Ark and how it could have possibly been constructed, and one on the lost stone city of Petra in the Middle East. And guys, I know that probably sounds boring, but I was freaking fascinated.

I could have sat there and learned about different things from each episode for daaaaays. No really, because I found out that there are 42 season of Nova. Forty two! My dad was just as rapt. I mean, of course he was, it was on his DVR. And about the millionth time that we let out simultaneous, "Huh, that's interesting"s, I realized that it might just be genetic.

So of course I've spent the better part of the last few days reading everything I can about Petra. Which I'm doing on my vacation. Like a boss. A nerdy, nerdy boss.

Until I learn how to vacation like a normal person, I'm pretty sure I'm stuck like this. When people say they wish they were back in college, I totally get that. Except I mean the class part of college, and I'm pretty sure that's not what they're talking about.

Now I'm just glad that I know where it comes from.

Happy nerding!
CT
