CT: Blame It All On My Roots
So last night around 2:00am, I found myself in an arena packed with 17,000 fairly intoxicated people, all singing along to "Friends in Low Places" like it was the national anthem. And it. was. amazing.
My sisters and I drove from LA to Sacramento yesterday to see Garth Brooks in concert. If that seems like a little far to go for a concert, it is. For the average show it's hard for me to justify driving down into Hollywood, so you'd think that a five hour drive would be completely out of the question.
Except for Garth Brooks.
Growing up in a ranching community in Wyoming, it was hard not to get familiar with country music, especially the greats like Garth Brooks. Little C has never been the biggest country fan and even she can sing every single word to "Ain't Going Down To Til The Sun Comes Up". And I am a huge country fan.
So off we went to the wilds of Northern-ish California to get our collective cowgirl on. I've never been to Sacramento before, but we were all struck by the farmlands leading up to it. It genuinely felt like being home in Wyoming, just very green and very, very hot. I tend to do a little better overall when I can see some big sky, so even just that was worth the drive.
As far as the concert, that was one of the best shows I've ever been to. It didn't get started until about 11:30pm and I kid you not, Garth Brooks performed until 2:00 in the freaking morning. He danced and played and sang like his life depended on it. It was incredible. We won't even get into me weeping like a child during "The River". I truly believe that someone who can perform like that believes like hell in what they're singing, and often with Garth Brooks what he's singing about is love. Loving each other well.
Well, that and getting a little bit rowdy. Because let me tell you what, the crowd at the concert last night was there to party. A huge stadium full of people danced and sang and I forgot how much fun a huge concert like that can be.
We trekked back to our hotel room at 3:00am and passed out for a few hours before we drove back today. By now you all know how much I love my sleep, but it was totally worth the lack of sleep to get to party like that. So much fun. But now, you see, I need a bit of a nap. I'll be back at ya tomorrow, well rested and with my Movie Crush Monday post.
Much Peace,
CT
