CT: Star Wars Makeup

Oh readers, today is an exciting day. An epic day, in many ways. And I'm just so darn excited that it's a day that you and I get to share together.

But first, a little background.

When I was but a young CT, I was the tomboy's tomboy, running wild through the wilderness covered in dirt and chasing my guy friends with sticks. Ok, so maybe the wilderness part was a bit of an exaggeration but nothing else really was. In high school, my guy friends and I bought plastic lightsabers and proceeded to beat the ever-loving crap out of each other on a regular basis. And anyone who tried to go easy on me because I was a girl learned their lesson quickly. I can't even count the number of scars on my body that came from stories that started with, "So Joel and Bobby thought it would be cool if we..."
Astrid got me on a deep level.

But in the last few years a bit of a revolution has happened to me. I've gotten crazy into makeup. I used to say, "sort of into makeup" until Little C laughed hysterically at that and pulled 15 different lip products out of my purse. What can I say, I think it's super cool. Not that I think that everyone has to go around looking like a Kardashian every day (Please, please don't actually do that. It sounds exhausting.), but there are really, really cool things that can be done with makeup. It's an art form like any other art, and I'm more than a little obsessed.

So I exist in this Geek Girl space of loving aaaallll the nerdy things as well as loving aaaallll the beauty things. And from time to time those two intersect, like the 5 hours I spent trying to find a good tutorial on some of the Jupiter Ascending makeup (not the red one, literally any other look from the movie, and all of my devotion to anyone who can find it for me because it straight up does not exist).

But now we have a truly momentous occasion. CoverGirl announced this week that they're releasing a limited edition makeup collection for Star Wars: The Force Awakens. And it feels as if they know me somehow because I am freaking out about it.

The collection has six really cool metallic shade lipsticks, three nail colors, and MASCARAS WITH STAR WARS QUOTES ON THE SIDE.

So sorry, I think I blacked out for a minute there.

This is cool for so many reasons. First, metallic lipstick so I can feel like some sort of futuristic droid princess. Second, they thought to include a waterproof mascara so that I'm covered when I bawl hysterically through... well okay through most things, but probably at least a little in The Force Awakens.
Yeah, this is scary accurate.

Third, though, is that the fact that someone suggested a makeup line based on Star Wars means that they are specifically marketing this movie to girls. Because that's what a limited edition makeup line is, it's marketing. The powers that be deemed it worthy to market a huge scifi release to the many, many women that love Star Wars. This feels huge, and awesome.

The line comes out September 4th, which is when you can find me at 7:55am with my nose pressed against the glass of the store, praying it opens soon. Because that metallic rose gold? It's what dreams are made of.

Happy geeking!

    1. I know, it's so hard to find! Here on the west coast I had luck at CVS, but otherwise I've only been able to find it online. And I hate shopping online, but the red lipstick is absolutely gorgeous, and looks like it'll work with most skin tones if that helps!
