CT: Quiz Me!

Things have been a bit on the stressful side, friends. Am I right? So tonight let's talk about easy, fun TV by some merciless comedians.

In our continuing efforts to slowly become British, Little C and I have been obsessed with UK TV for a while now. We're not even particular on the genre or the year it was made. Jonathan Creek, Orphan Black, Doctor Who (of course), Robin Hood, Merlin. Bring it all on. But our current obsession is British quiz shows. It's like the Brits developed an entire genre of TV just so that we can watch the likes of Stephen Fry and Eddie Izzard and Jack Whitehall riff for two hours. Genius.

For instance, when you've had a super busy and a bit stressful week, there is nothing, NOTHING quite like Big Fat Quiz Of The Year.

This is kind of like American trivia shows, except without all the obnoxiousness and instead hilarious comedians being snarky. It's amazing. The show is hosted by Jimmy Carr, and originally it was a yearly show focusing on the pop culture and news from the year, but it's expanded to happen more often and focus on trivia from any era of history.

While I'll be honest, I'm here mostly for the snark (of which there is so much), what I find fascinating is what random areas of trivia that these comedians know absolutely cold. You'll have the MOST random question about science and suddenly Richard Ayoade is rattling off facts like crazy.

This afternoon I watched the BFQOTY from 2012 and there was Russell Howard (adorable as he is) and he knew absolutely everything! Which really only served to make my crush on him that much stronger. Basically, we're both de-stressing from our lives and becoming infinitely smarter via these snarky folks. Winning all around.

Happy Watching!
