Movie Crush Monday?: Little C and Zoolander

Oh readers, the holiday weekend hit me hard and I barely escaped with my life. CT has bestowed the word "Evocative" which means "bringing strong images, memories or feelings to mind" and I've decided to be grateful it wasn't one of the words that she picks because she likes how they sound...

For my Movie Crush Monday(?) I'm following Milla Jovovich from her zombie killing days to her turn as a model/evil henchman evocative of Anna Wintour in Zoolander.

This is one of those comedies that bombed in theaters for all the wrong reasons.  It was released just after September 11th when we were a country that temporarily lost pur sense of humor. By time we recovered, we recognized that this movie evoked a more carefree version of ourselves and Zoolander became a cult classic. I'm glad that we gave this movie a second chance. It's the story of a male model who gets caught up in a political assassination plot. It's exactly as ridiculous as it sounds but it's infinitly quoteable.

More wonderful than the main cast of the film, are the cameos. David Duchovny showed up and i was deloghted but it was Uncle David Bowie's role that evoked a sense of pure joy. The list of small parts played by top celebrities is long and if you blink you'll miss one. Christian Slater showed up even though this came out smack in the middle of the decade that we as a nation firmly did not care about Christian Slater.

The characters in this movie are... well exaggerated is an understatement but if we're being honest they actually evoke a lot of the actual characteristic of the people who live and work in the fashion world.

Let's all celebrate how perfectly this movie turned out, and refrain from evoking the memory that there was ever a sequal

Happy watching
Little
