Little C: The Writings on the Wall (And in the lyrics)
Hello readers,
As some of you will have heard BLINK 182 broke up. Again. Slash maybe have just replaced Tom Delonge and not told him. Details are fuzzy at this stage. The more I find out the less I really know. I can't say I find the break shocking as they've not put out any new music for two years and their inner band relationships have been on the tempestuous side of life for a decade. But still. Ow.

I've been on the Blink train for so long that my mother has gotten on with me. She follows Mark Hoppus on Facebook and routinely says things like "We saw Travis playing an awards show the other night. I'm just so happy he's doing well." I say this mostly so you get an idea of how deep this band has been engrained in my life for the last 17ish years. (Weirdly enough, Tom's replacement in the band, Matt Skiba, is also one of mom's favorites)
So in honor of the new Blink formation (or possibly the end of a 20 year run) I thought I'd do a music playlist post of my favorite songs created after a punk band changed their lineup.
1) Everything Must Go- Taking Back Sunday
Technically this is 2 lineup changes into the band (Who have since gone back to their original members) but this is my favorite TBS song.
2) Survive- Rise Against
Rise Against had a period where they went through guitarists the way Spinal Tap went through drummers. Recently caught their new music video and once again didn't recognize the new guy so I've given up on knowing who is in the band.
3)Emma- Alkaline Trio
This is from the first album with drummer Derek Grant. Feels a little weird to think that there was a time before him since Derek's been in the band since 2003 and has been around for the last 5 records...
4) Feathers- Coheed and Cambria
Ok so these guys are more metal/prog rock than punk but they've played enough Warped Tours to be given honorary status. This song was from their first record after the 2006 lineup changes.
I won't bore you with any more, since this post is mostly to make myself feel better about three grown ass musicians that I admire acting like 13 year old girls. Just remember kids bands will always break up and change members. But good music can always be found if you're willing to look for it.
Happy listening-
